Sara Tedrick Parikh is a counseling psychology doctoral candidate with research interests in college student grief and a focus on community outreach and service-learning. She has held several graduate research and teaching assistant positions and has developed excellent professional written and oral communication skills.Sara's dissertation focuses on the support gap between grieving students and their peers and on how to create an intervention that would overcome barriers to peer grief support. The first phase of her project is in press in Death Studies and was presented at APA in San Diego. She also gave an invited talk about her project at the Fifth Annual Conference on College Student Bereavement in Raleigh. Sara Tedrick Parikh is currently focused on analyzing data for her dissertation and plans to defend in late summer 2013. In September 2013, she will start her pre-doctoral internship in psychology at the Minnesota Correctional Facility at Shakopee, MN, an all-female facility. Her experiences there will include group therapy, assessment, and treatment for chemical dependency. Sara's professional interests beyond grief and loss include social justice, advocacy, and mentorship. She plans to relocate to northern New Jersey in September 2014 to be near family, and she is currently exploring career opportunities including academia, correctional facilities, and university counseling centers.Sara Tedrick Parikh is actively seeking to grow her professional network!
